QEST
Panama Hat

Lock & Co. is proud to partner with QEST to champion talented UK craftspeople, with proceeds from the sale of each hat going to the charity. The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) supports and champions excellence in British craftsmanship by funding the training and education of talented and aspiring makers. Founded by the Royal Warrant Holders Association in 1990, the charity helps to sustain and evolve vital skills in traditional and contemporary crafts.

The QEST Panama is a timeless piece suitably styled for both men and women. The hat is hand-woven from the finest toquilla palm fibres by artisans in Ecuador, using skills passed down for generations and then blocked by hand in England using traditional methods. This classic Panama is a rich golden colour, elegantly finished with a navy/cream crossover band. For longevity and shape-retention, we add silicon inside the pinch, and the hats feature a beautifully soft cotton sweatband, making this hat the perfect complement for your summer attire. The QEST Panama bears all the hallmarks of Lock & Co. - quality, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Care

Always handle your Panama hat by the brim to avoid distorting the crown.

Spot-clean using a damp cloth and leave to dry at room temperature. Or alternatively steam from a household kettle and a soft bristle hat brush or clean pencil rubber will help remove dust and dirt.

Avoid wearing a Panama hat in the rain. Dry with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge if it gets wet.

Should your hat shrink in size, a hat jack can be used to stretch it back to its original shape.

Panama hats are best stored in a hat box, away from direct sunlight.

Be very gentle with this hat; Regular steams are highly recommended, bring your Lock Panama hat to us for a complimentary steam whilst you wait. We use a specialist steamer to refresh hats. This typically takes five minutes, depending on how busy our shop is.

Materials

Hand-woven from a superior quality, high-grade toquilla palm straw by expert crafts people in Ecuador. This Panama hat is finished with a navy and white cotton band.
