In 2024, the iconic Coke hat celebrates its 175th anniversary. Lock & Co. has partnered with the Royal School of Needlework for RSN x Bowler Hat to commemorate this milestone. The collaboration is a testament to the artistry of British heritage craftsmanship in creating and showcasing an exclusive range of bowler hats, each with a unique design and embellished using handmade ribbon work. Each beautiful bowler hat has its own story, brought to life by the meticulous finesse and design skills of the RSN degree students.
Edith Miller
My late Grandfather, Roger Miller, was a Principal Architect for London Transport in the 1980s and 90s. He was responsible for the modernisation of the Underground stations. Amongst others, this included Embankment, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Tower Hill. During the Tower Hill Station project, he commissioned a large bronze sundial which was installed over the new ticket hall. My Grandfather and his colleagues are cast within the sculpture, depicted on top of the first mass produced London bus. In keeping with the theme of heritage, London Transport, and its personal significance to me, I have taken inspiration from the original bus that now resides in the London Transport Museum.
Every Lock & Co. hat purchased is carefully and expertly hand-prepared in our London shop by one of our Hatters, before being whisked out of our famous green front door.
